What it does.
- Listens on loopback only.
- Does not publish to social networks by itself.
- Source is MIT-licensed on GitHub.
- Two runtimes share one HTTP contract: a native macOS app and a headless Linux daemon.
- Fourteen topic desks from public RSS and open JSON APIs — no source API keys.
What it is not.
- This is not Shadowfetch Linux, and it is not an App Store app.
- It is a private desk for people who already operate agents on their own hardware.
Install.
Linux (from source)
Python 3.10+, then the published package commands:
cd linux
pip install feedparser requests
python3 -m agent_newsbot serve A systemd installer lives at linux/install.sh in the repository. The bridge binds to 127.0.0.1 (default port 18765) and authenticates with a locally generated bearer token.
macOS (from source)
macOS 14+ with the Swift toolchain. The repository build script compiles a native app:
./build.sh
open "/Applications/Agent News Bot.app" The bridge token is shown under Settings → Bridge after first launch.
